An easy grain free breakfast that’s Whole30 and Paleo

Whether you follow a paleo diet, you’re on Whole30 or you simply can’t do grains – this grain free cereal recipe is going to be your new go-to. Why? Well first off, it’s super easy and quick to make. Next, it offers a nourishing of flax and chia seeds that are combined with coconut flour. The cinnamon offers just the right amount of flavor to build on.

Once warmed, add your dairy-free milk. I like to use hemp milk, but you do you. Heck, if you don’t need to be dairy free, feel free to use whole milk! This cereal is not just for those of us who “need” it – it’s so full of goodness that it’s an option for everyone!

The topping part is the fun part. Got a busy day? Eat it as-is for a sugar-free (meaning there is no added sugar) warm cereal. Or add a touch of maple syrup or honey for a clean-sweetened breakfast. Here are some topping ideas for you to consider for your grain-free cereal:

Questions about this grain-free cereal recipe

What if I don’t have a microwave? You can either heat boiling water on the stove and pour it over the cereal mix  – probably the easiest – or put the mix plus the water in a pot and heat over low heat on the stove, mixing continuously.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time? Great question! What you can do is make the mix – portion it out in glass jars or baggies if you’re okay with plastic. When ready to heat, simply pour into a bowl and make!

Is coconut flour considered a grain? Coconut flour is made from the meat of fresh coconuts. It is a great source of fiber and is low in carbohydrates, and definitely not considered a grain.

Does coconut flour have a taste? While I don’t personally taste the coconut flavor, with the addition of cinnamon in this recipe and because it’s combined with flax and chia seeds, you should definitely not taste the coconut.
